Winter blues

As the leaves are turning yellow and falling off the trees, the weather is turning colder day by day. Keeping ourselves warm feels like a big mission at this time of year. The only thing I wanna do in winter is hibernate until the spring comes. I wish I could do that. Unfortunately, I can't do that but one thing I can do for sure at this time of year is layering clothes to keep me warm. The dark, grey and harsh cold winter days makes you understand the value of summer.

Clarisonic Mia 2 review

I am 4 weeks into my Clarisonic Mia 2 use and I LOVE IT.

As I have very sensitive and dry skin, I was quite apprehensive about buying this product at first. I was debating with myself whether it would be a good investment. However, after researching online, I came across plethora of positive reviews which persuaded me to give a shot to this product. I was very blessed as my other half put himself forward to buy this as gift for me on one of our festivities.

The reason I chose Mia 2 is because of its friendly travel size, pulsing T-TIMER and 2 speed settings (Normal and Low) unlike Mia which has only 1 setting.

Before I could use this product, I had to charge it for 24 hrs. I was pretty impressed after the first use as my skin felt much more clean, softer and smooth. I started with low speed setting during my first use in case if the normal setting would be harsh on my sensitive skin. After a few more use in the same speed setting, I moved on to normal setting. Clarisonic comes with 6 brush head for different skin types. I use sensitive and troubled skin type brush head  which is more suitable for my skin type.

Mia 2 has a 60 second timer. The first 20 seconds are for forehead, second 20 seconds are for nose and chin, the final 20 seconds for cheek; 10 seconds for each cheek. The other thing I love about Mia 2 is it has a T-Timer which provides you with 'beeps alerts' to indicate that it is time to move on to another part of your face. This has made my life easier because I don't have to remember when to switch to another part of my face whilst cleaning.

Mia 2 comes with a small tube of Clarisonic cleanser. I used the cleanser once only as I did not find it suited with my skin. Therefore, I use my regular cleanser with Mia 2 to clean thoroughly. I only use it for 2-3 times a week due to sensitive and dry skin.

Another thing I really like is it is waterproof; can use in shower and bathtub and comes with a pLink charger that magnetically attaches to the handle. Mia 2 is rechargeable and once fully charged  the battery seem to lasts for roughly another 24 minutes of use.

MIA 2 Do's and Don't
  1. Take your makeup off. Please take your makeup off first before you use Clarisonic. Otherwise, you might end up with breakouts. This product is not a makeup remover instead it is more like skin exfoliator. Clarisonic does instruct to remove makeup first before using it.
  2. Do not use Scrub cleansers. As it exfoliates your skin, you do not need scrub cleansers. Also the brush combined with little microbeads can be harsh on your skin and can over exfoliate your skin which can lead to flaky, redness and irritated skin.
  3. Do wash your brush thoroughly after use. The dirt can clog up on the brush if not cleaned properly after use which can damage the brush life cycle and there are high chances that it might have adverse effect on your skin. Also do change the brush head every 3 months.
  4. Keep it safe and dust/dirt free in travel case. After the brush head has dried completely, I like to keep it on its travel case since it will be safe there and the brush will not accumulate any dust or dirt.
  5. Always cleanse in front of mirror. I find it easier to use while I'm looking in the mirror. It helps me to concentrate and I do not miss any part of my face whilst cleansing my skin.

      Switzerland Part 2

As promised in the last post, I have posted the beautiful pictures of Switzerland captured through my lens. I completely forgot to mention in the last post that we drove to Switzerland from Germany. The road trip was nearly 8 hours but it was worth it cos the views we saw on our trip was breathtaking. The Swiss mountains were still full of snow in the summer. However, we had warm weather with plenty of sunshine. The view from my bedroom was amazing as I could see beautiful mountains and chalet from my bedroom. I even captured the view from my bedroom window through my lens (see third picture). I felt incredibly lucky to wake up every morning and see the amazing view during my stay. I felt very close to the nature. We tend to overlook and forget to appreciate the beauty of the nature due to our busy life and the artificial things built around us which is quite sad to be honest. The best thing about Switzerland is that even though it is a landlocked country they have finest public transport system. They have railway lines everywhere even at 3571 m/11,782 m above sea level which is incredible. You can literally visit most of the Swiss Alps as the railway system is well placed and excellent. I miss Switzerland and would love to go back again. I would definitely recommend everyone to visit Switzerland. Trust me, it won't disappoint you.

      Switzerland part 1

In August, I went to Switzerland for holiday after coming back from Amsterdam trip. If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram then you probably are already aware about my swiss holiday since I bombarded my followers with millions of updates. Switzerland was on my holiday list and it didn't fail to impress me. I have to admit it was one of the most beautiful place I have visited so far. The landscape and the natural beauty is to die for. We stayed in Adelboden which is 1353 m from sea level. We stayed in a chalet and the view from my bedroom was beautiful. We visited Interlaken, Thun, Adelboden, Grindelwald, Murren, Lauterbrunnen and Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe [highest mountain in Europe]. It was quite a challenge to decide what to wear every day as most of the time we were visiting the mountains which were quite high, the highest mountain we visited was 3454 m. So, I wanted to wear something quite comfortable and did not want to look over the top for the trip. I promise you that in my next post I will post the pictures of the beautiful landscapes captured through my lens as well as another outfit post. So, watch out for another post.

      Neon love

I have never had neon colour outfit on my wardrobe before. However, this year I decided it's a high time that I own an outfit in this colour before I head out for my holiday. After a lot of online hunting, I came across this amazing colour co-ordinated crop top and skirt. I immediately fell in love with it as soon as my eyes fell on it. I bought it straight away without thinking twice. Oh, yes I did. I love how the pleats are at the right places and it doesn't make the skirt look puffy instead it adds an amazing shape to it. The best thing about this outfit is that it is super comfortable to wear. I actually wore this outfit on both Amsterdam and Switzerland holiday. This picture was taken in Amsterdam after a very long day of exploring the city. This summer, somehow, I have managed to catch bit of sun and therefore, I have become quite tanned. I'm not convinced yet if being tanned suits me.

      On gypsy mode

Apologies for not blogging for the last two months. However, I was quite active on facebook and instagram. If you follow me there, you probably know that. For the last two weeks, I had been on a road trip to Switzerland and Holland. I love travelling. Sometimes, I wonder if I was a gypsy in my previous life. Living in Germany has made my life easier in terms of travelling around Europe. When the opportunity came to settle in Germany for few years, I was thrilled. I love living German life.  My childhood was spent in different parts of world from Hong Kong, Brunei to Nepal. We were constantly on the move. Maybe that's where my love for travelling comes from. If I could, I would love to live in different places around the world for a certain period of time cos I strongly believe that it broadens our horizons, perspective in life and provides wonderful opportunity to learn new things, new culture and meet new people.

5 ways to wear culottes in Spring/Summer

      Look 1 Minimalistic
This look consist of very minimal accessories. The idea of this whole look is to keep the focus on the outfit. Only few rings are worn to enhance the look.
      Zara top and heels
      Boohoo culottes
      Rings bought from Nepal holiday
      Look 2 Tribal
As the weather in Spring can unpredictable at times, I created this look with full sleeve top and added big chunky necklace to uplift the whole look. By adding the chunky necklace, it transforms the top from being boring to more interesting.
      Zara top
      Necklace from Nepal
      River Island heels
      Look 3 Feminine
This look is more feminine in comparison to the other looks. A bralet is worn underneath the blazer. Every girl should have bralet in their closet. You can wear bralet with most of the outfits. Bralet is great way to enhance your the upper body shape.
      Topshop bralet
      George at Asda Blazer
      Zara heels
      Forever21 earrings
      Look 4 Monochrome
This look is more about mixing two different prints. Mixing two different prints can be risky but if you understand which prints go well with each other than the whole outfit can instantly look good.

      Keukenhof

On Easter break I went to Keukenhof gardens in Netherlands. It was 3 hours 45 minutes drive from my place. Keukenhof is the home of beautiful flowers especially tulips. The garden itself is very huge and opens from March to May. Mid April is the best time to visit as the flowers are in full bloom in this time. Not only you can witness variety of beautiful flowers inside the garden but you also get the opportunity to see the fields where the farmers grow tulips for commercial purposes. We spent nearly five hours in the garden and tried our best to visit the whole area. I was surprised with the variety of tulips they had. I assumed that tulips had fewer varieties compared to other flowers but after seeing the range of tulips I came to know that I was wrong. This place is stunning. I cannot explain in words how beautiful this place is. It is beyond beautiful. I tried to capture the beauty of this garden through my lens. I ended up posting several pictures and videos on my instagram and facebook page as a result. This place is definitely worth visiting.

Little special treasure - Rings and Tings

Accessories are one of the little treasures that every girl lust for. It instantly makes a huge difference to our outfit and adds style to the whole look. Rings and Tings an online fashion store were very generous to provide me an opportunity to try some samples from their jewellery collection. I have to admit it was not an easy task to choose accessories from their large range of collection. At the end, I settled for triangle pendant necklace, stone ring and wing ear cuff. I was impressed with the quality of the product and found the price reasonable. I loved their cute packaging, a small cardboard box with their name on it. Rings and Tings are definitely here to provide little special treasure that shall be cherished forever.
